PROJECT NOMZAMO

Concept

Project Nomzamo was born from the belief that healthcare and opportunity should go hand in hand. By combining Batho Pele Healthcare’s vision with the Y.E.S. program, the project set out to reimagine primary healthcare while opening doors for unemployed youth.

Goal

The aim was simple but powerful: train and employ over 3,600 young people as Community Health Workers, equipping them to deliver life-saving care—maternal and child health, HIV/TB treatment, chronic disease support—right where it’s needed most, in local communities.

Impact

In just three years, Project Nomzamo reached more than 900,000 families, strengthened 328 health facilities, and provided vital care including HIV treatment, mental health support, and services for vulnerable children, while also creating meaningful career pathways for young South Africans.
